It is sad to see that the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team has been forced to use public email accounts. Back when I was deployed to Djibouti, we had our own secure messaging system comprised of carrier pigeons, morse code, and the drunken ramblings of our commanding officer that could barely be understood even once they were decrypted.

Reminiscence aside, I am keen to hear your observations about current events in Kabul. Where do you suppose this money is now? Can anything be done to track it while the trail is still fresh? One sentence in particular stood out for me when a U.S. official commented, “A lot of this looks like our tax dollars being stolen. And opium, of course.” I don’t know about you but there is nothing more aggravating than having your opium dens raided and all your contraband stolen right out from under your lethargic noses.

If there is anything I can do to help, please contact me straight away. I know we Britons have a checkered past when it comes to imperialism, the opium trade, and cryptography but I assure you that the men, women, and asexual humanoid aliens under my command are not to be trifled with when someone tries to steal their favorite Thai sticks & nose candies.
